The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) directed all its affiliated schools to facilitate the screening of a 30-minute sensitization and orientation video on Inclusive Education for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) on October 7, 2026. The initiative was undertaken in pursuance of directions from the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The module was designed to help school staff better understand the needs and challenges faced by Children with Special Needs and encourage respectful, empathetic and inclusive practices throughout the school environment.
Who Was Required to Participate?
CBSE asked schools to ensure maximum participation from both teaching and non-teaching staff. The participants included:
- Principals, Heads of Schools and teachers
- Aayahs and other support personnel
- Drivers, clerical staff and receptionists
- Deans, wardens and other school employees
Schools were advised to organise the screening in a way that allowed staff members to participate without disrupting essential school activities.
Where Could Schools Access the Video?
The 30-minute module was made available through the Video Tutorial option under the Headmaster Login on the PRASHAST Portal.

Link with the PRASHAST Screening Initiative
The sensitization programme formed part of the PRASHAST Screening Initiative being undertaken during the academic year to identify students with probable disabilities and facilitate timely intervention.
CBSE highlighted that making school staff aware of the needs and requirements of Children with Special Needs was an important part of creating an accessible, supportive and inclusive learning environment. The number of schools viewing the module was also to be visible at the national level.
The Board requested all Principals and Heads of affiliated schools to ensure maximum staff participation and extend full cooperation in implementing the initiative effectively.
