In a significant relief for schools, a partial relaxation has been announced regarding the mandatory submission of APAAR ID linked with the List of Candidates (LOC) data for Class X and XII students for the 2025-26 academic session.
APAAR, which stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry, is part of the government’s “One Nation, One Student ID” initiative under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The system is designed to provide students with a unified and lifelong academic identity, enabling credit transfers, seamless academic transitions, simplified verification for admissions and jobs, and skill gap analysis.
While the system promises transparency and accountability, several schools raised concerns over difficulties in generating APAAR IDs due to:
- Technical issues in integrating multiple portals,
- Mismatches between school data and Aadhaar records,
- Delays in Aadhaar correction processes,
- Lack of parental consent.
Revised Guidelines for Schools
To ensure smooth LOC submission within deadlines, schools have been directed to follow these steps:
- If parents deny consent, schools must maintain a copy of the refusal and mark the APAAR entry as “REFUSED” in the LOC.
- If IDs cannot be generated due to technical or administrative reasons, the entry should be marked as “NOGEN”.
- In all other cases, the valid APAAR ID must be indicated.
These measures aim to facilitate error-free and timely submission of LOC data while addressing the concerns of schools and parents.
