The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official guidelines for conducting Practical Examinations along with the Class XII Supplementary Examinations 2026. The circular outlines the eligibility of students, examination schedule, venue, responsibilities of schools, and procedures for uploading practical marks.
According to CBSE, practical examinations are applicable only for students placed in the Compartment category under the following cases:
- Repeat Practical (RP): Students need to appear only for the practical examination. Their previous theory marks will be carried forward.
- Repeat Theory and Practical Both (RB): Students must appear in both the theory and practical examinations during the supplementary exams.
Practical Examination Schedule
The practical examinations will be conducted from 29 July to 4 August 2026.
Venue for Practical Exams
- Regular students: Practical exams will be conducted in their respective schools.
- Private candidates: Practical exams will be held at their allotted examination centres. If a centre lacks the required practical facilities, the concerned CBSE Regional Office will arrange a nearby centre.
Appointment of Examiners
CBSE Regional Offices will appoint External Examiners for all Class XII practical examinations. Internal examiners will be appointed by the respective schools or examination centres. Schools have been instructed not to appoint external examiners on their own.
Important Instructions for Schools
Schools and examination centres must:
- Prepare subject-wise lists of eligible students.
- Coordinate with CBSE Regional Offices for external examiner appointments.
- Inform students about the date and timing of practical exams in advance.
- Upload practical marks on the CBSE portal on the same day of the examination, as no corrections will be accepted later.
Instructions for Students
Eligible students must:
- Contact their school or examination centre by 27 July 2026 with their result/mark sheet and admit card.
- Report to the examination venue on the scheduled date and time for the practical examination.
CBSE has advised all schools and candidates to strictly follow these guidelines to ensure the smooth conduct of the Supplementary Practical Examinations 2026.
