The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular encouraging all affiliated schools to actively participate in the MyGov Awareness Quiz organized on the occasion of the International Day of Deaf-Blindness.
The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education, Department of School Education & Literacy, aims to spread awareness about deaf-blindness, promote inclusive education, encourage accessible communication, and strengthen understanding of the rights of persons with disabilities.
The online awareness quiz is open to students, teachers, parents, and the general public through the MyGov platform. CBSE has requested schools to widely share this opportunity and motivate maximum participation among all stakeholders.
Online Awareness Course Also Available
Along with the quiz, CIET-NCERT, in collaboration with Sense International India, has developed a five-day online awareness course titled “Understanding Deaf-Blindness.”
The course is designed to build awareness and enhance the capacity of:
- Teachers
- School Heads
- Students
- Parents and Caregivers
- Other education stakeholders
The training focuses on understanding the educational needs of persons with deaf-blindness and supports the implementation of inclusive teaching practices in schools.
CBSE’s Message to Schools
CBSE has advised all affiliated schools to disseminate this information among their school communities and encourage active participation in both the awareness quiz and the online course. According to the Board, such initiatives help create more inclusive learning environments while increasing awareness about the needs, challenges, and rights of persons with deaf-blindness.
Schools are encouraged to make this awareness campaign a part of their inclusive education initiatives and motivate students and educators to contribute towards building a more accessible and inclusive society.
