The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an important circular regarding the submission of List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class X Second Board Examination 2026.
As per the Two Board Examination Policy introduced under NEP 2020, CBSE is offering Class 10 students an opportunity to improve their performance in up to three subjects through a second board examination scheduled in May 2026.
📅 LOC Submission Schedule
CBSE has announced a three-phase schedule for submission of LOC and fee payment:
- Phase 1 LOC Submission: 18 March 2026 to 31 March 2026
- Phase 2 & Fee Payment: After result declaration (5 days window)
- Phase 3 (with late fee): Limited window after Phase 2
Schools must complete all submissions before 11:59 PM on the last date of each phase.
📌 Key Instructions for Schools & Principals
- LOC must be submitted for all interested students.
- Schools should guide students to use this opportunity only when necessary.
- Students must be informed about eligibility, schedule, and exam centres.
- Examination centres may be limited and might not be near students’ location.
- No changes in exam centre will be allowed once allotted.
🎯 Eligibility Criteria for Students
Students can appear in the Second Board Examination if they:
- Have appeared in at least 3 subjects in the first exam
- Have passed Class X and want improvement
- Are placed under Compartment category
- Want improvement in up to 3 subjects (Science, Maths, Social Science, Languages)
❌ Students who missed 3 or more subjects in the main exam are not eligible.
⚠️ Important Rules
- No new student names will be added in LOC
- No subject changes allowed (except limited cases like Mathematics)
- No correction in student data allowed
- No improvement in internal assessment marks
- The syllabus will remain same as the main examination
💰 Examination Fee
- Fees will be accepted only in online mode (Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI, Net Banking, SWIFT).
- Late submissions will attract a ₹2000 late fee per candidate.
- No offline fee payments will be accepted by CBSE.
CBSE has advised all schools to carefully follow guidelines, submit accurate student data, and complete the LOC process within the given timeline to ensure smooth conduct of the Second Board Examination.
