The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official subject-wise marks distribution for Class X and 12 Board Examinations for the academic session 2025-26.
This circular includes details about:
- Theory marks & Practical marks for each subject
- Exam duration
- Whether external examiners will be appointed
- Whether practical/project components are included
- Type of answer booklets (A/B) and number of pages
According to the notification, languages like Hindi Course-A, Hindi Course-B, English, Sanskrit, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, Assamese, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Urdu and others will follow a 80 marks theory + 20 marks internal assessment pattern, as usual.
Subjects with practical components such as Home Science, NCC, Painting, Music, Computer Applications, Science, Artificial Intelligence, Retail, IT, Security, Health Care, Automotive, Agriculture and more follow a 70/30 or 50/50 bifurcation depending on the subject.
CBSE has also confirmed that:
- Most theoretical subjects will have a 3-hour exam duration
- Skill subjects will have 2-hour exams
- Answer booklets will generally be 32 pages for theory and 20 pages for practical-based subjects
- Some subjects involve external examiners, while others do not
