The Department of Higher Education, under the Ministry of Education, has announced the commencement of the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS) for the academic year 2025-26. The online application process for both fresh and renewal scholarships is now available on the National Scholarship Portal (http://scholarships.gov.in).
This scheme provides financial assistance to meritorious students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in recognized colleges and universities across the country. Students seeking a fresh scholarship, as well as those applying for the first, second, third, and fourth renewals for previous years (2021-2024), can now submit their applications online.
The last date for submission of online applications is October 31, 2025. Candidates are advised to apply within the stipulated time and ensure that their online applications are verified by the respective institutions. Applicants may need to show their original documents to their institutions for verification. Any application not verified will be treated as INVALID.
Nodal officers of the institutions are requested to ensure timely verification of applications through the institute login. The verification process includes actions like verifying, defecting, or rejecting applications, so it is crucial that the process is completed accurately.
This initiative is part of the government’s continuous efforts to promote higher education and provide financial support to deserving students, enabling them to pursue their academic goals without financial constraints.
