The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released official guidelines regarding the implementation of the Three-Language Policy in affiliated schools.
The guidelines are aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aim to promote multilingual education while giving schools and students greater flexibility in language selection. CBSE has clarified that students should learn three languages during their school education, with at least two being native to India, as envisioned under NEP 2020.
The Board has advised schools to implement the policy in accordance with the curriculum framework and state-specific requirements wherever applicable. The objective is to strengthen language skills, preserve India’s linguistic diversity, and improve students’ communication abilities without imposing any single language.
CBSE has also requested schools to carefully follow the issued guidelines while planning language options and ensure smooth implementation of the policy for the benefit of students.
Schools, parents, and educators are encouraged to go through the official circular to understand the revised language framework and its implementation in the academic session.
