The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has shared information regarding the availability of 845+ curriculum-aligned Virtual Labs and digital learning resources on DIKSHA.
The initiative has been developed in pursuance of the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to support the effective implementation of technology-enabled learning in school education.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), through CIET-NCERT, have developed a comprehensive repository of Virtual Labs and associated digital learning resources.
The repository includes more than 845 Virtual Labs, primarily covering Science and Mathematics, and these resources are mapped to the NCERT curriculum, learning outcomes, classes, subjects, and chapters.
How Can Students and Teachers Access the Virtual Labs?
The Virtual Labs and related digital resources can be accessed through multiple channels:
1. DIKSHA Portal and Mobile App
Grade-wise, subject-wise, and chapter-wise Virtual Labs are available on the DIKSHA Portal and Mobile App, allowing users to find resources according to their academic requirements.
2. QR Codes in NCERT Textbooks
Relevant Virtual Labs and digital resources are mapped through QR Codes provided at the beginning of textbook chapters, enabling easier access to digital learning content.
3. Grade-Wise QR Codes
Dedicated QR Codes provide access to Virtual Labs mapped according to the respective grades, subjects, and chapters.
4. Ask DIKSHA
Users can search for relevant Virtual Labs and other digital learning resources through the AI-powered Ask DIKSHA feature.
5. DIKSHA Personalized Adaptive Learning (PAL)
Students can also access Virtual Labs through DIKSHA PAL courses, providing another way to explore the available digital resources.
The CBSE circular also mentions that a QR Code has been provided for accessing the Virtual Labs available on the DIKSHA Portal.
CBSE Encourages Schools to Promote Digital Learning Resources
CBSE has requested Principals and Heads of CBSE-affiliated schools to disseminate this information and encourage students, teachers, and other stakeholders to make use of these courses and digital learning resources.
The availability of curriculum-aligned Virtual Labs can provide schools with additional digital resources to support classroom learning, particularly in subjects such as Science and Mathematics.
By connecting Virtual Labs with the NCERT curriculum, learning outcomes, classes, subjects, and chapters, the repository is designed to make relevant digital learning resources easier to discover and access.
What This Means for CBSE Schools
For schools, the initiative provides access to a large collection of curriculum-aligned digital learning resources through the DIKSHA ecosystem.
Teachers and students can use the available Virtual Labs based on their grade, subject, and chapter, while the integration of QR Codes and the Ask DIKSHA AI-powered search feature provides additional ways to discover relevant resources.
CBSE-affiliated schools are encouraged to share information about these resources with their school communities and motivate students and teachers to explore the available learning opportunities.
