CBSE Announces Special Examinations for West Asia Students
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that special examinations will be conducted for eligible Class XII students in West Asian countries whose regular examinations in certain subjects could not be held during the 2026 Board Examinations.
The Board Examinations 2026 for Class XII in 40 subjects, including 20 academic and 20 skill subjects, could not be conducted in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE due to the prevailing situation.
To support the academic future of affected students, CBSE had introduced an Assessment Scheme on March 27, 2026, under which the results of regular candidates from these countries were declared on May 13, 2026. Results of private candidates were also subsequently declared under the same scheme.
Following the provision for students dissatisfied with their results and in compliance with the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in CWP-815 of 2026, CBSE has now decided to conduct examinations in the 40 subjects that were previously cancelled.
Who Can Appear?
Regular Candidates
Eligible regular candidates include students of CBSE-affiliated schools in the specified West Asian countries:
- Whose LOC was submitted for the Main Examinations 2026
- Whose results were declared under the Assessment Scheme
- Candidates may appear in subjects of their choice
- The result of the special examination will be final and will replace the earlier performance
- Candidates must submit their LOC personally within the prescribed schedule
Private Candidates
Private candidates are eligible if they:
- Submitted their examination forms for the Main Examinations 2026
- Had their results declared under the Assessment Scheme
- May appear in subjects of their choice
- Will receive a final result that replaces their earlier performance
- Must submit their examination forms personally
LOC and Form Submission Schedule
CBSE has scheduled the submission of LOC for regular candidates and examination forms for private candidates from:
September 22 to September 26, 2026

No examination fee will be charged.
Examinations Only in the Affected West Asian Countries
The special examinations will be conducted only in the affected countries:
Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
CBSE has clarified that examinations will not be conducted in any other country, and the examination centres will remain unchanged.
The examination dates and date sheet will be communicated after the LOC/forms have been submitted. The link for LOC and examination forms will be provided on the CBSE website.
Important Conditions for Candidates
CBSE has specified several important conditions:
- The prescribed submission schedule must be followed strictly; no extension will be granted.
- No subject change will be permitted.
- Examinations will not be conducted for subjects that were already held by the Board.
- Candidates who remained absent during the Main Examinations 2026 for any reason are not eligible.
- No new regular or private candidate who did not appear in the Main Examinations 2026 will be eligible.
- No post-result declaration facilities will be available for these examinations.
- Schools in the affected countries are required to disseminate the notification to all concerned Class XII students and guide them accordingly.
- The list of subjects for the special examinations is provided in Annexure A of the notification.
CBSE has advised schools to carefully study the notification and ensure that eligible students are guided about the submission process and applicable conditions.
