The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully conducted the Class 10 Science board examination today across examination centres nationwide. The exam started at 10:30 AM and concluded at 1:30 PM, with more than 25 lakh students appearing this year.
A major highlight of the 2026 board exams is the revised Science question paper pattern. For the first time, the Science paper has been divided into three distinct sections — Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This change ensures equal weightage and focus on all three core science disciplines.
Students were also provided an additional 15 minutes of reading time before the exam began. This time was meant to help students understand the question paper structure, analyze questions, and plan their answers effectively.
As per the new exam format, the Science theory paper carries 80 marks with 39 compulsory questions. Each section includes a mix of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), assertion-reasoning questions, short and long answer questions, and case-based questions, offering a comprehensive assessment of students’ understanding.
The revised paper pattern is expected to strengthen conceptual learning and provide a more balanced evaluation system for students appearing in the CBSE Class 10 Science examination.
