The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a detailed assessment scheme for Class XII students studying in West Asian countries after the cancellation of board examinations due to ongoing geopolitical challenges.
The affected countries include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. As per the official circular, all Class 12 board examinations scheduled from 16 March to 10 April 2026 have been cancelled. Additionally, previously postponed exams have also been officially cancelled.
📌 Why were exams cancelled?
Due to extraordinary and unstable conditions in these regions, conducting examinations safely and fairly became infeasible. CBSE emphasized that student safety and academic continuity remain its top priorities.
📊 How will students be assessed?
CBSE has introduced an alternative assessment policy to ensure fair and reliable results:
✅ Students who appeared in all subjects
- Results will be based on their actual board exam performance
✅ Students with pending exams (1 to 6 subjects)
- Marks will be calculated using school-based assessments
- These include:
- Quarterly exams
- Half-yearly exams
- Pre-board exams
👉 For subjects with 80/70 marks theory:
Best of the three exams will be considered
👉 For subjects with 60/50/30 marks theory:
Final Pre-board marks will be used
🧪 Practical/Internal Assessment
- Already completed by schools
- No changes will be made to these marks
🗓️ Important Dates
- Marks upload window: 6 April to 13 April 2026
- Schools must submit data within this timeline for timely result declaration
⚠️ Important Guidelines
- Once marks are uploaded, no corrections will be allowed
- CBSE may verify records to ensure fairness
- Strict action will be taken against schools for any biased or incorrect submissions
📢 For Compartment & Unsatisfied Students
- Compartment exams will be conducted (if conditions permit)
- Students dissatisfied with assessment may get a chance to reappear in exams later
- Fresh exam marks (if taken) will be considered final
🎯 Final Note
CBSE aims to maintain fairness, transparency, and reliability while ensuring that students from affected regions are not disadvantaged in their academic journey.
