The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official advisory addressing the growing concerns and misinformation regarding QR codes printed on question papers.
According to the Board, these QR codes are not meant to function as direct internet links. Instead, they are part of CBSE’s internal systems used for authentication, tracking, and maintaining examination integrity. When scanned, these codes display specific text rather than redirecting users to websites.
CBSE highlighted that confusion arises when users manually search the QR-generated text online. In such cases, search engines may display unrelated or algorithm-driven results, which have no connection with CBSE or its examination processes.
The Board also noted that certain individuals are deliberately misrepresenting such search results to spread misinformation and create unnecessary panic among students, parents, and stakeholders.
Key Points from CBSE Advisory:
- QR codes in question papers are not hyperlinks and do not lead to external websites.
- Any unrelated content appearing online is due to search engine algorithms, not CBSE systems.
- Linking QR codes to external content or individuals is factually incorrect and misleading.
- CBSE has warned that such misinformation can harm the credibility of the examination system.
Advisory for Students & Stakeholders:
CBSE has urged students, parents, educators, and media platforms to:
- Avoid sharing unverified or speculative information
- Rely only on official CBSE communications
- Exercise caution before amplifying content on social media
The Board emphasized the importance of maintaining responsible information sharing to uphold trust in the examination system.
