This year, CBSE has also introduced a major change in the evaluation process by implementing the On-Screen Marking (OSM) System.
What is the On-Screen Marking (OSM) System?
Under the new OSM system:
- Answer sheets are evaluated digitally on-screen
- Manual checking has been reduced
- Evaluation becomes faster and more accurate
- Transparency and consistency in marking improve significantly
The initiative is aimed at modernizing the board examination evaluation process and ensuring quicker result preparation.
CBSE Grace Marks Policy 2026
CBSE may award grace marks or moderation marks under certain conditions to help deserving students qualify.
Important Points:
- Students may receive around 2 to 5 grace marks if they narrowly miss the passing criteria
- Grace marks can also be awarded for:
- Difficult questions
- Printing mistakes in question papers
- Out-of-syllabus questions
To pass the examination, students are required to secure a minimum of 33% marks.
