The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular directing all affiliated schools to publicize the National Narcotics Helpline – MANAS-1933, launched by the Government of India to strengthen the policy of “Zero Tolerance” against drug abuse.
The helpline, integrated with Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs) across States and Union Territories, will function 24×7 to provide prompt response and assistance.
Key Features of the MANAS-1933 Helpline
- Report drug trafficking confidentially.
- Seek information and guidance on rehabilitation or counseling.
- Access awareness resources such as posters, videos, and brochures via NCB MANAS Portal.
- Strict confidentiality of informers’ identities ensured.

Directions for CBSE Schools
CBSE has instructed all schools to:
- Widely publicize MANAS-1933 during school activities, awareness programs, and outreach initiatives.
- Display official banners/posters at entrance gates, receptions, notice boards, and other prominent areas.
- Spread the message during assemblies, PTMs, and other forums for maximum awareness among students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders.
- Maintain compliance reports regarding display and awareness efforts for future reference.

This initiative aims to build a drug-free school ecosystem, empower students with the right knowledge, and engage the school community in the fight against substance abuse.
