The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the online submission of examination forms for Private Candidates appearing in the Class 10 Second Board Examinations 2026.
As per the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), CBSE has implemented the Two Board Examination Policy, allowing students to improve their performance in up to three subjects during the Second Board Examination scheduled in May 2026.
Who Can Apply for Second Board Examination 2026
The following candidates are eligible to apply:
- Students of session 2024–25 placed in Compartment Category (Third Chance)
- Candidates who were eligible but did not appear in the Main Examination 2026 under the compartment category
- Private candidates who wish to improve their performance as per CBSE guidelines
Candidates must apply through the Private Candidate Portal available on the official CBSE website.
Important Dates for Form Submission
CBSE has announced the following schedule for submission of forms:
- Without Late Fee:
16 April 2026 (12:00 Noon) to 20 April 2026 (Midnight) - With Late Fee:
21 April 2026 to 22 April 2026 (Midnight)
Students are advised to complete the process within the given timeline to avoid late fees or rejection of applications.
Important Instructions for Applicants
CBSE has issued several guidelines for private candidates:
- Application forms must be submitted only in online mode
- Offline applications will not be accepted
- Fees must be paid through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card
- No application will be accepted after the last date
- Candidates must upload scanned photo and signature (JPG format)
- Details entered must be accurate; incorrect entries may lead to rejection of the application
- Examination centre city must be selected carefully as changes will not be allowed later
Candidates are also advised to fill out the form themselves and avoid relying entirely on cyber cafés to prevent errors.
Examination Details
The Second Board Examination 2026 will be conducted based on the same syllabus as the first Board Examination of the year.
