This update is part of the implementation of the Two Board Examination Policy, introduced to provide students with an additional opportunity to improve their academic performance.
As per the official schedule, schools are required to submit the LOC and complete the payment of examination fees within the specified timeline to ensure student eligibility for the second examination.
Important Dates for LOC Submission
CBSE has announced the following schedule for submission and fee payment:
- First Phase (Normal Fee):
April 16, 2026 to April 20, 2026 - Second Phase (Continuation):
April 16, 2026 to April 20, 2026 - Third Phase (With Late Fee):
April 21, 2026 to April 22, 2026
Schools must ensure that all candidate details are finalized before the last date to avoid late fees and submission errors.
Who Can Appear in the Second Board Examination?
The Second Board Examination offers flexibility and improvement opportunities for students. Eligible candidates include:
- Students who passed the Main Examination and wish to improve performance
- Students placed in the Compartment category
- Third Chance Compartment students
- Eligible sports students, as permitted by CBSE
Students in the Essential Repeat (ER) category are not eligible to appear.
Subject Improvement Opportunity
CBSE allows students to improve their performance in up to three subjects, including:
- Science
- Mathematics
- Social Science
- Languages
Additionally, students can change their Mathematics option, including:
- Mathematics Standard → Basic
- Mathematics Basic → Standard
However, no other subject changes will be permitted.
Important Instructions for Schools
CBSE has issued several key instructions that schools must follow:
- LOC data must be submitted and finalized strictly within the timeline
- Once LOC is finalized, no corrections will be allowed
- If a student’s name is submitted and fee paid but the student does not appear, Main Examination 2026 result will be treated as final
- The Second Board Examination will be conducted on the same syllabus as the Main Examination 2026
- All fee payments must be made online only through approved digital modes

Fee Details Overview
The examination fee structure includes:
- Normal Fee (India):
₹320 per subject (₹960 for three subjects) - Late Fee:
Additional ₹2000 per candidate (if submitted after normal deadline)
Fees must be deposited through approved online payment methods such as:
- Debit/Credit Card
- NEFT/RTGS
- UPI
- Net Banking
Offline payment methods are not accepted.
Support for Special Categories
CBSE confirmed that:
- CWSN (Children With Special Needs) students registered earlier will continue to receive facilities
- No new CWSN registrations will be allowed for the Second Examination
- Compartment students can appear under the same category or for improvement as applicable
