The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official notification regarding the submission of applications under various categories of affiliation for the academic session 2027–28 through SARAS 7.0.
As per the notification dated 26 February 2026, schools seeking fresh affiliation, upgradation, extension, restoration, or other permissions can apply online through the SARAS 7.0 portal within the prescribed timeline.
🗓 Application Window
For most major categories, the application window will remain open from:
26 February 2026 to 31 July 2026
However, certain categories such as:
- Land correction/increase/decrease
- Change of school name
- Change of Society/Trust/Company
- Interchange of Managing Entity
- Transfer of school from one society/trust/company to another
- Site shifting
will remain open throughout the year.
Additionally, applications for Foreign/International Schools and Government/Government Aided Schools will also remain open year-round.

- Fresh Affiliation up to Secondary Level
- Fresh Affiliation up to Senior Secondary Level
- Switch Over from other Boards
- Upgradation to Secondary / Senior Secondary Level
- Branch School
- Extension of Affiliation
- Restoration of Affiliation
- Section Increase
- Introduction of Additional Subjects (Science / Non-Science)
- Permission of Two Shifts
- Closure of School
🔎 Inspection & Processing Modalities
CBSE has also clarified the inspection process:
- 100% Physical Inspection for Fresh Affiliation, Upgradation to Senior Secondary, Branch School, Site Shifting, Two Shifts, and Restoration cases.
- Virtual Inspection for Section Increase and certain Extension cases (based on percentage criteria).
- Automated Mode for Upgradation to Secondary Level and 97% of Extension of Affiliation cases.
- Scrutiny Mode for name change, managing entity interchange, land correction, transfer cases, and school closure.
⚠ Important Instructions for Schools
- All existing schools must ensure that OASIS data is correctly updated.
- Mandatory Public Disclosure and required documents must be uploaded as per CBSE guidelines.
- Schools due for extension must apply first before applying under any other category.
- Schools affiliated under Middle Class Syllabus must upgrade within 5 years as per board norms.
- Completion of SQAAF is mandatory for schools applying under applicable categories.
