The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the tentative date sheets for the 2026 Board Examinations for Classes X and XII. These examinations are scheduled between 17th February 2026 and 15th July 2026, covering Main, Second, Compartment, and Special Examinations for sports students.
Approximately 45 lakh candidates from India and 26 other countries are expected to appear across 204 subjects. CBSE has released these tentative schedules to help students, teachers, and schools plan effectively:
- Students can create structured study plans to maximize preparation.
- Schools can manage academic and administrative tasks efficiently, including teacher deployment for examination duties.
- Teachers can schedule personal commitments, vacations, and evaluation timelines in advance.
Evaluation of answer scripts will typically begin 10 days after the examination of each subject and conclude within 12 days, ensuring timely result declaration.
Highlights of Tentative Datesheets:
- Class X Main Exams: Start 17th February 2026 with Mathematics.
- Class XII Main Exams: Start 17th February 2026 with Biotechnology and Entrepreneurship.
- Second Board Exams (Class X): Scheduled in May 2026.
- Compartment Exams: Scheduled from 16th May to 1st June 2026.
CBSE emphasizes that these dates are tentative; the final date sheets will be issued after schools submit the final list of candidates.
